Hartley takes third for Carlin in chaotic Macau Grand Prix
Macau, PRC. 16th November 2008
Brendon Hartley took a stunning third place finish for adidas, Race-Boots.com supported Carlin Motorsport in the 55th Macau Grand Prix. The Red Bull driver battled his way through the field from 20th position on the grid to take the final podium spot. Fellow Red Bull driver Jaime Alguersuari was running in a competitive second place until a drive-through penalty pushed him down the order. Oliver Turvey saw his excellent weekend come to an abrupt halt as he stalled on the grid, while Marcus Ericsson failed to finish on his Macau debut after hitting the wall on the first lap. Despite the dramas, three of Carlin’s drivers finished in the top ten.
Third place Brendon Hartley said. “We made quite a few changes to the car yesterday: it felt really good before the Qualification race, so it was really disappointing to be caught up in a first lap incident. We set the fastest lap in yesterday’s race and in this morning’s warm up, so I knew we had the pace to make up places but its difficult to pass here, so a lot of my race was about being patient and waiting for others to make mistakes. I’m really pleased to have ended the weekend on a high, and happy to have got a good result for the team.”
Team Principal Trevor Carlin added, “Today has been a great day for the team. Despite some errors we had the pace to challenge for a win. Macau is a fantastic event, which brings together all the best Formula 3 teams, and I think today we showed we are still one of the best F3 teams in the world.”

Smith back on podium
Misano, Italy. 31st August 2008
adidas and Race-Boots.com supported Bradley Smith bounced back to form and almost secured that first grand prix victory in the 23 lap 125 cc at Grand Prix of San Marino and Riviera of Rimini at Misano this afternoon. At the finish Smith had to settle for second place after a tremendous battle with World Champion Gabor Talmacsi but was delighted to secure his first podium finish since the French Grand Prix in May.
Riding at the home track of his Polaris World Aprilia team, Smith led from the start but Hungarian Talmacsi who had dominated practice and qualifying soon led the way in the sweltering conditions. The two leaders opened a big advantage over the pursuing pack and Smith re-took the lead when the Champion made a rare mistake at half distance.Talmacsi fought back and once back in the lead pulled away to secure his second victory of the season which means he still has a slight chance of retaining his title with Championship leader Mike Di Meglio crashing out for the first time this season.
“I’m really pleased with the result which is a big thank-you to the team for all their support,” said Oxford –based Smith. “From the word go the weekend has gone well but I didn’t expect Gabor to be able to produce such fast laps at the finish and I had to settle for second.”

Darren Law of Phoenix, Arizona turned a 1:44.057 on the 122nd circuit of the famed Daytona International Speedway 24 Hour road course configuration. The heat that is commonly associated with the Daytona Prototype racecars that Law drives, seemed to have little affect on his endurance, and certainly the comfort and durability of the adidas race-boots played no small part in keeping Law on his toes in the car.
